CHALLENGE:

Reimagine the process of participatory design with a majority BIPOC community in Watts on the design of a Community Center & Park on the site of a previous housing project.

COLLABORATE:

Project was led by the developer Primstore, in partnership with HACLA (Housing Authority of the City of Los Angeles) and architecture firm RIOS. DCo was the Community Engagement Consultant with the help of our Core Coalition and Action Team.

CREATE:

DCo led the organizing of three community sessions through the end of SD/DD Phase of the Community Center. Each session had specific goal in engaging community members with a focus on education and providing opportunity for continued engagement in the design/development process
